‘Whispers Of Yesteryears’ For Launch,’Morrow
A new novel based on contemporary African life written by a Nigerian based in Canada, Mrs Uzoma Uponi, ‘Whispers From Yesteryears’, is to be launched in Port Harcourt, tomorrow.
The novel, set in Nigeria, is a sequel to the author’s first novel, ‘ColourBLIND’, which was shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers Prize in 2011.
According to Uponi, the novel is an “attempt to contribute to the African narrative and provide readers with a peep into the day-to-day life in Africa.”
The book keeps alive the traditions and memories of Africans “in the rush towards the westernization and relegation of African values.”
The book launch will take place at Chapel of Victory International, 29 Victory Avenue, off Elekahia, Rumukalagbor, Port Harcourt, tomorrow at 11am.
