Environmental Sanitation Bill Passes Second Reading

vironmental Sanitation Amendment Bill last Thursday sailed through second reading on the floor of the Kwara House of Assembly.
The bill sent to the House by Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed seeks to check indiscriminate erection of speed breakers along some major roads in the state.
The motion for the second reading of the bill was moved by the majority Leader of the House, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Abdulkareem and seconded by Alhaji Monde Umar (PDP).
During a debate on the bill, majority of the members led by the majority leader, called for the passage of the bill.
They were of the opinion that the bill will put an end to several speed breakers erected illegally by various communities in the state.
The Clerk of the House, Mr Oyetunde Oyeniyi, later read the bill for the second time.
The Speaker, Mr Rasaq Atunwa, directed the House Committee on Lands and Housing to do further work on the bill.
Meanwhile, the Speaker charged Nigerian youths to shun destructive tendencies as a way of preparing for leadership positions.
He gave the charge in his offce while receiving the Students Union Government of the University of llorin led by its Speaker, Mr Alawaye Kabir.
Atunwa said youths could not be the true future leaders without sound education and moral uprightness.
