Samsung Customers In PH Lament Faulty Products

tomers of Samsung brand of electrical appliances have lamented over the circulation of faulty products in the Nigerian markets.
Consumers in Port Harcourt, who patronised SIMS Nigeria Limited, an Indian company, a sales outlet located at 129 Aba Road, decried the flooding of the market with new faulty Deep freezers and flat screen television sets.
The Tide learnt that the two products of Samsung marketed by the Indian firm had recorded several cases of customers returning the items soon after purchase and delivery.
A University lecturers’ wife (name withheld) who purchased a Samsung Deep freezer was said to have observed the non-workability of the item and quickly returned it to exchange for another one with yet another problem traceable to factory faults.
Another woman, a federal civil servant who preferred anonymity narrated her ordeal in the hands of the management gave Indian company as they conflicting reasons for the faulty nature of the new Deep freezers.
According to her, “I was deceived to believe that the stock, a brand new Deep freezer I purchased was working only to get home and discover that the product was faulty.
She explained that efforts made to have the item changed was rebuffed despite meeting the time lag for such exchange on the grounds that many people have been coming with similar complain.
When The Tide visited the company’s show room customers were seen inspecting products with a view to making purchases while at the workshop several new Deep freezers and flat screen televisions were being worked on.
A dealer in electronic appliances in Port Harcourt, Mr Maduka Eke urged the consumers of the product to approach Servicom and Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) to report for necessary action.

Senate Orders NAFDAC To Ban Sachet Alcohol Production by December 2025 ………Lawmakers Warn of Health Crisis, Youth Addiction And Social Disorder From Cheap Liquor
The upper chamber’s resolution followed an exhaustive debate on a motion sponsored by Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong (Cross River South), during its sitting, last Thursday.
He warned that another extension would amount to a betrayal of public trust and a violation of Nigeria’s commitment to global health standards.
Ekpenyong said, “The harmful practice of putting alcohol in sachets makes it as easy to consume as sweets, even for children.
“It promotes addiction, impairs cognitive and psychomotor development and contributes to domestic violence, road accidents and other social vices.”
Senator Anthony Ani (Ebonyi South) said sachet-packaged alcohol had become a menace in communities and schools.
“These drinks are cheap, potent and easily accessible to minors. Every day we delay this ban, we endanger our children and destroy more futures,” he said.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who presided over the session, ruled in favour of the motion after what he described as a “sober and urgent debate”.
Akpabio said “Any motion that concerns saving lives is urgent. If we don’t stop this extension, more Nigerians, especially the youth, will continue to be harmed. The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has spoken: by December 2025, sachet alcohol must become history.”
According to him, “This is not just about alcohol regulation. It is about safeguarding the mental and physical health of our people, protecting our children, and preserving the future of this nation.
“We cannot allow sachet alcohol to keep destroying lives under the guise of business.”
