Schools Reopen In Rivers,Today
Full academic activities
for second academic term would commence today in the primary and post-primary schools across Rivers State.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Lawrence-Nemi who inspected schools last Friday to ascertain the readiness of things for the commencement of second term, after the Christmas and New Year holidays said all was set for immediate commencement of academic activities.
The Commissioner who urged the teachers and students to ensure that serious academic activities begin immediately in the state, warned that parents of students and pupils who fail to be present in classes today may face sanctions.
She advised parents to take full advantage of the passion and love shown on education development by the present administration led by Governor Rotimi Amaechi to properly educate their children and wards.
She also warned that the ministry would deal with teachers who absent themselves from duties or in the habit of coming late to change or face appropriate punishment.
The commissioner visited schools in Port Harcourt and Obio/Akpor and expressed satisfaction with what she saw on ground.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
