Private School Owners Want Edumate In School Curriculum
Private School owners in Port Harcourt and its environs have called on Educational Authorities to include Automated Computerised Teaching Aide (Edumate) in the school curriculum.
Speaking during a demonstration of Edumate in Port Harcourt, a cross section of private school owners, said that the instrument which was introduced into Nigeria by Educomp Solution Nigeria Limited would help to improve the standard of education in the country.
According to the Proprietress of Dick and Alice International School, Port Harcourt, Chief (Mrs) Veronica Ajuebon, Edumate sustains children interest during lessons.
She said that with Edumate, all the series are engaged, pointing out that it was time, the government popularised this new teaching method in the interest of education in the country.
A staff of Dick and Alice International School, Mr Adedeji Oluwafemi said that the instrument makes it easier for children to learn.
Mr Oluwafemi who demonstrated the instrument before newsmen, said that Edumante would soon phase out the use of blackboard and chalks in schools.
According to him, the society must embrace new technology to improve, noting that he was not against giving money to ASUU or any other unions in the educational system, but effort must be made to bring in new method to improve the system.
The Head of Information Communication Technology (ICT), Dick and Alice International School, Mr Mevin Ajebon said that in this era of globalisation, Nigerian educational system must not lag behind in the adoption of new technology.
He said that Dick and Alice International School was doing well because of Edumate.
In her view, Proprietress of Great Faith International School, Agip Estates, Mrs Grace Anyanwu paid tribute to Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for bringing Edumate to the state.
According to her, the situation must be made as an integral part of the country’s, educational system.
Edumate is currently being used in four schools in the state as well as the Ambassador Nne Furo Kurubo Model Secondary School, Eleme.

The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
