Flashback On PH City Centenary Beauty Pageant

Although the well
publicised, keenly contested and well organized Port Harcourt City Centenary beauty pageant has come and gone, the memories of that eventful night still echoes loud and clear in the minds of those who were opportuned to witness the historic events live at the Hotel Presidential Port Harcourt, last Friday.
Beautiful and elegant Miss Theodora Kelechi Atako, won the coveted crown as she defeated 29 other beautiful young ladies   to wear the centenary crown for the next 100 years, while Miss Eucharia C. Affor and Princess Onuekwa, emerged the 1st and 2nd runners  up respectively.
The  centenary queen was crowned by the wife of the deputy governor of Rivers State, Mrs. Mina Ikuru, while the husband, His Excellency, Engr. Tele Ikuru who represented the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency,  Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, handed over the keys and particulars of a brand new Honda Accent Car to the winner who was full of joy and appreciation to the state government.
Miss Atako, who spoke with The Tide Entertainment shortly after she was crowned, said she was overwhelmed by her victory and thanked God for the honour. The 1st and 2nd rumurs up who equally got prizes also expressed gratitude to God and promised to live up to expectation.
Other contestants who received awards at the event include Udodi Onyinyechukwu, who won the miss Amity award and most friendly contestant award, Miss Aya Uche Sophia clinched the Miss Eloquent award, while the award of the best behaved contestant went to Miss Theodora Kelechi Atako, who also won the crown and Chinaka Olivia, best traditional attire award.
The glamorous and scintillating event witnessed a great turn out of guests including top government officials  such as the deputy governor of Rivers State.
His Excellency, Engr. Tele Ikuru, Secretary to the Rivers State Government and Chairman Port Harcourt City Centenary Celebration Planning Committee, Mr. George D.N. Feyii, Administrator, Greater Port Harcourt, Aleruchi Cookey Gam and the Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Hon. Chimbiko Akarolo among others.
The event was also graced by other distinguished personalities, captains of industries, the Civil Society and representatives of the Nigerian Movie Industry called Nollywood, who include:- Milliscent Jack, Maureen Ihua, Chiege Alisigwe, Chinyere Nwabuzor, Bobby Ogoloma, Columbus Irisoanga etc as well as Miss Niger Delta, Becky Iluma.
The event featured powerful musical performances by the Port Harcourt First Son, Duncan Mighty, who gave a good account of himself on stage and left when the ovation was highest, Richie of Nigerian Idol Season 3, Maxy, The Choro Milo Crooner, Lady I B, Chairman, Performing Musicians and Employees Association of Nigeria (PMAN) Rivers Chapter, the funky Brothers and Inspirational Singer Silver who thrilled the audience with her melodious voice.
Nollywood living legend, Columbus Irisoanga also thrilled the guests with his Fertility dance group from the Kalagbari Extraction, who performed to the satisfaction of the guests in a perfectly relaxed atmosphere. It showcased a great medly of traditional dance and choreography that highlighted the rich cultural  endowment of the Rivers people and he received a high ovation for his ingenuity.
The comedy session featured top comedians such as clent D’ Drunk, Prince  4 Hezekiah, Dan D’ Humourous etc, who literally cracked some ribs with their hilarious jokes as well as other side attractions  that included video clips of the contestants while in camp.
Acc comedian clink ‘D’ Drunk was later invited again on stage to crack bom jokes to calm the frayed nerves of the guests and contestants who wanted with baited breath after the last appearance the of 5 contents who made it to the grand finale, while the fine man panel of judges had a tough time in choosing the best three contestants.

They Booed, Threw Bottles At Me – Tems Recounts

R&B star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recounted the early-career challenges she faced, revealing that she was once booed out of the stage while performing at a school event.

Speaking in an interview with Newsmen, the Crazy Tings crooner shared that she wasn’t only booed but was also harassed with plastic bottles.

“I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer and I thought I was going to receiving a standing ovation.

“But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me,” she recalled.

Tems explained that despite the embarrassing incident and other such rejections, she remained determined to pursue a career in music.

The Tide Entertainment reports that  Tems admitted that some of the initial rejections she faced could be due to her conviction to stick to her originality instead of doing covers or familiar sounds like most of her peers.

The Grammy-winning singer said looking back now, she is glad that she didn’t compromise her style despite the initial pressures.

Primeboy Pleads For Mohbad’s Burial

A close associate of late singer Mohbad, Primeboy, has appealed for the artiste’s burial nearly three years after his death.

According to him, Mohbad’s body remains in the mortuary since September 12, 2023, pending burial arrangements.

The Tide Entertainment reports that in a statement Primeboy urged the family, public, and government to permit the burial, stating, “It’s been almost three years since Mohbad left us. His body is still in the mortuary. I’m begging the family, I’m begging the public, I’m begging the government, please let’s bury our brother. He deserves a befitting burial.”

It would be recalled that Mohbad’s death sparked public outrage, protests, and investigations. Ongoing autopsy examinations, police inquiries, and legal proceedings have delayed burial arrangements amid family disagreements and public scrutiny.

 PH Based Gospel Singer Set To Drop Hit Single

Rivers State based gospel singer, Wilberforce  Afriyie is set to drop his 6th single titled MIRACLE WORKING GOD’ dropping next month with a it’s video.
This was disclosed by Afriyie, yesterday, during an exclusive interview with The Tide  Entertainment in Port Harcourt.
According to the singer, the inspiration for his  new song was based on all of the battles, troubles and challenges that he has  faced in life and still going through.
“But in all I see the hand of the lord changing situations and turning things around for my good,” he said
“This song is to encourage everyone going through tough and hard times not to give up and trust whole heartedly on God for a miracle because change is coming their way,” he added.
The Tide Entertainment reports that Afriyie is ready to give his fans, especially those in the Christian faith a whole experience, a new season of overwhelming joy and celebration.
“When Christ is involved I have nothing to worry about sometimes there’ll be delay, but by faith I walk in total victory.Human reasoning cannot resonate, the mind cannot comprehend,” he explained.
He said that  the spirit of God goes beyond polarity, and expressed his alignment with the God’s grace, saying that the God of signs and wonders is still performing miracles.
