Independence Anniversary: Rugged Pastor Hits PH With Man Must Laugh

soned Comedian, Mr. Emmanuel Ubi popularly known as Rugged Pastor has put together a comedy show tagged man must laugh to usher in the 53rd Independence Anniversary celebration of Nigeria, the giant of Africa which comes up on Tuesday, 1st October 2013.
The popular Comedian who disclosed this to The Tide Entertainment yesterday, noted that the event will also mark the official opening of R-Lounge and Karaoki Bar of the prestigious Road Hotels and Towers located at No. 14 Eneka Road, Rukpokwu in Obio/Akpor local government area of Rivers State, on Friday September 27th.
He contended that the event which takes place at the hotel premises will feature seasoned rib crackers and other guest artistes. Those billed to perform at the event include Akas Baba (Wazobia FM), Olalekan Da-O-Square (Ray Power) for special appearances. Others are: Mixzy , Adiver, Zubby D, Alasa Poronto and Chimony.
Also expected at the event are Top Comedians such as Naija Mumu, F/L/ Evang. Open Teeth, C.Splendour, Akpan Okon, Castro, Dandy Boy, J.X Kingomare, D.Smark, Mr. Wonder, Mudiaga New J. City, D. Prophet, Waleano etc.
The event is supported by top entertainers like D.J. Jmony and D.J. Mac Fuda.
The Ikwerre, Rivers State born humour merchant said man must laugh by Rugged Pastor and friends is part of the Independence Anniversary and the aim is to make people laugh, feel relaxed and well entertained in a Cosy and comfortable environment which Read Hotels and Towers offer.
On the Comedy business, Mr. Ubi said, “although every young man now wants to do comedy, but unfortunately, Comedy is not an all comers game, it is not easy to make Nigerians laugh with the economic hardship bitting so hard. You need to travel a lot, real extensively, socialise with people in order to fit in, it is only then you will be able to know the kind of jokes to crack”.
According to the award winning comedian, comedy has come to stay in Nigeria and Rivers State is particular because many people appreciate it and see it as a source of laughter and relaxation. He maintained that comedy has gone classical, not only to entertain, but to inform and educate in a humorous way.
He retraitrated that most of the new entrant into the profession may not be able to cach up with the new development because the profession is dynamic and those who are not able to meet up the standards may crash out, especially if they don of have sponsors which is the main bane of the profession in the state.

They Booed, Threw Bottles At Me – Tems Recounts
R&B star, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has recounted the early-career challenges she faced, revealing that she was once booed out of the stage while performing at a school event.
Speaking in an interview with Newsmen, the Crazy Tings crooner shared that she wasn’t only booed but was also harassed with plastic bottles.
“I remember one time I was going to perform at my school as an up-and-coming singer and I thought I was going to receiving a standing ovation.
“But I got booed. They even threw plastic bottles at me,” she recalled.
Tems explained that despite the embarrassing incident and other such rejections, she remained determined to pursue a career in music.
The Tide Entertainment reports that Tems admitted that some of the initial rejections she faced could be due to her conviction to stick to her originality instead of doing covers or familiar sounds like most of her peers.
The Grammy-winning singer said looking back now, she is glad that she didn’t compromise her style despite the initial pressures.

Primeboy Pleads For Mohbad’s Burial
A close associate of late singer Mohbad, Primeboy, has appealed for the artiste’s burial nearly three years after his death.
According to him, Mohbad’s body remains in the mortuary since September 12, 2023, pending burial arrangements.
The Tide Entertainment reports that in a statement Primeboy urged the family, public, and government to permit the burial, stating, “It’s been almost three years since Mohbad left us. His body is still in the mortuary. I’m begging the family, I’m begging the public, I’m begging the government, please let’s bury our brother. He deserves a befitting burial.”
It would be recalled that Mohbad’s death sparked public outrage, protests, and investigations. Ongoing autopsy examinations, police inquiries, and legal proceedings have delayed burial arrangements amid family disagreements and public scrutiny.
