Community Hails Amaechi Over School Project
The people of Ikem in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State have commended the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Nemi for the construction of a modern primary school in the area.
Speaking to newsmen at the Ikem Community Square recently, the Chairman, Community Development Committee (CDC) of the area, Mr. Akujobi Amadi said, Governor Amaechi had through the school project brought hope to the entire community.
Amadi who spoke on behalf of the community, noted that the school was the first project ever executed in the area by any government, adding that the former school was built by the community through self efforts.
He commended the administration of Governor Amaechi for giving the community what he called the dividends of democracy stressing that the project had rekindled the hope of the people that they were part of the state and indeed, Nigeria as a whole.
The CDC Chairman also lauded the Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Nemi for her untiring efforts in ensuring that the modern primary school project was completed despite the initial challenges posed by the inability of the former contracting firm to complete the project within the stipulated time frame.
Amadi appealed to the Ministry of Education to commence the process of fencing the school in order to make the project uniform with other schools in the state.
The CDC Chairman further appealed that a local contractor with its base within the local government area be given the fencing project, in view of the ordered the community passed through in hands of the former contractor.
He noted that the people of Ikem would continue to be grateful to the governor and assured him of their total support especially at his present political travails in the state.
