Kidnap Kingpin, others In Police Net In Bayelsa
A middle-aged man described by the Bayelsa State Police Command as a notorious pirate and kidnap kingpin in the state have been arrested, alongside his accomplices at their hideout in Lotugbene, a community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the State.
The gang leader (name withheld) and 12 suspects arrested were said to have been the brains behind incessant cases of abductions in the State.
The gang according to information made available to The Tide, is made up of people who refused to surrender their arms during the amnesty programmes and were alleged to be response for series of abductions, robbery and pirate operation in most parts of the State.
They were alleged planning to sabotage the last Saturday local governemtn elections in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area when security agents got wind of the plans and immediately took actions that led to their arrest. Some dangerous weapons were discovered in their possessions.
The commissioners of police, who confirmed the story to journalists said the suspects were in police custody and would soon be prosecuted for various offences they have committed against
