Phalga Moves To Sanitise Schools
The Port Harcourt City Education
Authority, has pledged to sustain the present level of discipline among schools
in the city.
The Authority Secretary, Princess Kate Woluchem, who said
this during the presentation of Award of Excellence to her by the phalga Unit of Non-Academic Staff Union
(NASU) in her office in Port Harcourt, also called for more patriotism among
people in position of authority.
Pincess Woluchem said that both academic and non-academic
staff in Government-owned schools in the city were being monitored to ensure
that they put in their best in their various schools.
The PHALGA Education Authority Secretary also stressed the
need for those in positions of authority to be more committed to their duties.
She said that, the much talked about changes in the society
can be made possible if people take their responsibilities seriously.
Princess Woluchem, who commended NASU PHALGA for the honour
and recognition, however, urged for unity and love among the union members.
Presenting the Award on behalf of the Unit the state Chairman
of the union, Comrade Eze Awashi, described the recognition as unique as
Princess Woluchem had done so much to improve the standard of education in the
city.
Comrade Awashi, however, urged her not to relent in her
effort to improve education in the city.
He also said that the state office of NASU was proud of the
PHALGA Unit and urged other units to emulate the council.
Also speaking, the PHALGA branch unit of the union, Prince
William Chinwo, said Princess Woluchem has made the union proud in the city.
Prince Chinwo, who commended the Education Secretary for her
diligence to duty and spirit of accommodation, said that the event was also to
create awareness on the existence of NASU in the council.
Other NEC members at the ceremony includes; Comrade Daniel
Oyaghiri Rivers State Universal Basic Education branch, chairman, Comrade
Benson Young and Olu Innocent I. the branch treasurer.
