Council Boss Seeks Support For Education
The Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State , Chief Ibanga Etang, has urged corporate organisations to support the state’s free and compulsory education policy.
Etang made the call at the handing over of a renovated assembly hall built by DeltaAfrik Engineering Limited at the National High School, Etebi, in Esit Eket.
Represented by Dr Samuel Udua, the Secretary of the council, Etang explained that such assistance could help improve the relationship between the companies and their host communities.
The chairman commended the firm for its interest in education being the bedrock of development of the society.
He said the assembly hall was an important component of the school system where devotion and instructions were disseminated to the students to guide their daily activities.
The council boss solicited assistance in the reconstruction of the two dormitory blocks and renovation of the dilapidated staff quarters to make the school a complete centre of learning.
The Head of Community Affairs department of DeltaAfrik, Mrs Nkoyo Etuk, thanked the community for the support and cooperation extended to the company, saying that the company had experienced harmony with the community in the five years of its operations, hence, the resolve to reciprocate the gesture by giving back to the community.
“Equally, this project will help our children achieve higher educational attainment for responsible leadership tomorrow.
“As an indigenous company, we have our children at the back of our minds,” she stated.
The principal of the school, Mr Mfon Isangedighi, thanked the firm for assisting the school with a decent assembly hall, and assured the company that the school authority and the community would protect the building from vandals and pledged to put the structure to judicious use.
