Kano Spends N400m On Scholarship
The Kano State Government has released N400 million for the payment of outstanding scholarship allowances for its students studying in various institutions of higher learning.
The Executive Secretary of the state’s scholarship board, Alhaji Usman Ririwai, gave the figure in an interview with newsmen in Kano recently.
Ririwai said the board had completed all necessary arrangements for the payment of the allowances, adding that payment would commence today.
He said, “By the Grace of God, the payment of the scholarship allowances to all affected students will commence on Monday unfailingly.”
The executive secretary said that out of the amount, N56 million was for current payments, while the remaining N344 million was for the payment of backlog of 2009 scholarships inherited from former administrations.
He urged the students to cooperate with the board in its efforts to ensure a hitch-free payment.
