FRSC Sensitises 109 School Proprietors
The Adamawa Command of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) has sensitised more than 109 school proprietors and principals on the recommended and appropriate operations of school buses.
The Command’s Head of Operations, Mr Muhammed Kaigama, stated this in an interview with newsmen in Yola recently.
Kaigama said that the aim of the programme was to educate proprietors of both government and private schools on appropriate use of school buses to protect lives of pupils and students.
He said, “About 109 school proprietors and principals have been trained on proper use of school buses; how to recruit drivers, as well as types of buses to be used for school operation.”
He said that part of the knowledge imparted to the proprietors was that school buses in the state should be uniformly coloured with bold inscription of the school’s name and logo.
The head of operation said that FRSC serialised code numbers should also be on the buses so that they could be easily identified and assisted, especially during traffick hold-ups.
He explained that the objective of the training was also to minimise and control the manner some school buses were operating without respect for human lives.
“The way and manner pupils are overloaded in school buses in majority of our cities and towns is totally inhuman, because it has serious impact on their study and relationhsip with the school authorities,” he said..
Kaigama said that the command was making efforts to involve certified private commercial vehicles in the venutre in order to have more buses in the system.
