Governor Amaechi stated this during a thanksgiving service in honour of the Chairman of Etche Local Government Council, Barr. Reginald Ukwuoma at Assemblies of God Church, Rumuomasi.
He said the projects initiated by the government have direct impact on the people and must be completed.
The governor, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. George Feyii appealed to churches in the state to pray for the government to enable it discharge its responsibilities to the people.
In her speech, wife of the governor, Dame Judith Amaechi, who commended Barr. Ukwuoma for his positive disposition to leadership urged him to emulate the governor and initiate projects that have direct bearing on the Etche people.
Dame Amaechi commended the chairman for supporting the early child development education programme initiated by the Empowerment Support Initiative (ESI).
The governor’s wife who enjoined Churches to pray for the state to actualize its set goals advised women to take advantage of government’s health policy including attending government healthcare centres to nip in the bud the rate of maternal and child mortality in the state.
Delivering his sermon, the District Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Rivers State District, Rev (Dr) Ibulubo noted that public office holders should serve the people with the fear of God and glorify God in their leadership.
Rev Ibulubo who likened Barr. Ukwuoma to the Biblical Daniel said he was destined to succeed.
The celebrant, Barrister Reginald Ukwuoma said he was appreciating God for saving his life and that of his family from a road mishap and granting him victory at the council polls.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of award of stewardship to the chairman, who is the church’s chief ushering officer.
