‘PH Int’l Airport Ready, Nov’
The first phase of the re-modelling work currently going on at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, would be completed in November this year, the airport authorities have said
This is in spite of the fact that the project has been abandoned as no serious work seems to be going on at the site for sometime now.
The re-modelling work, which commenced in earnest last February was earlier scheduled to be delivered in June but speaking in a telephone interview with The Tide yesterday, the regional manager, South-South / South-East of Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr Henry Anyanwu said that the project was never abandoned.
He attributed the delay in the delivery of the project to technical matters, adding that some of the materials needed for the project were being imported from overseas and would take some time to arrive the shores of the country.
According to him, the International and the domestic departure hall will be ready in November this year.
He also explained that some of the imported materials that would be used for the completion of the building would be delivered next week.
The Regional Manager and other stakeholders who spoke to The Tide however, declined to disclose the cost of the project.
