Media Consultant Lauds The Tide On Professionalism
A media and event management consultant based in the United
Kingdom, Mr Harold Ekeke, has commended the management of The Tide Newspapers
for its commitment to professional excellence in newspaper journalism.
Ekeke, a former Airport correspondent of The Nigerian Tide
made the commendation during a visit to The Tide office yesterday. He expressed
satisfaction with the level of development recorded by The Tide especially in
the area of news content, layout, column and adherence to its editorial policy.
The media consultant assured that he was ready to partner
with the management of Rivers State Newspaper Corporation to take the newspaper
to higher standards, especially in the use of Information and Communication
Technology which is the hub of modern day journalism.
Ekeke, who described the visit to The Tide as an “emotional
reunion” after over 25 years of his sojourn in the United Kingdom, said with
the quality of writers and editors in The Tide, the newspaper was poised to
attain its rightful position as the voice of the South, in particular and
Nigeria.
He called on the Rivers State Government to assist the
management of The Tide to cope with the capital intensive nature of Newspaper
journalism, by providing the right incentives and support needed to carry out
its professional duties.
“Despite being a government-owned media, The Tide had proven
its mettle in professional journalism,” he added.
