StarTimes Explains New Partnership, Upgrade Of Technology
StarTimes, a broadcast organisation has explained that its partneship with the Nigeria Television Authority is to improve the quality of broadcast service to television viewers in the country in line with the latest trend in broacast technology.
Speaking during a media parley at NTA in Port Harcourt, the Vice President, StarTimes, Joshua Wang, said “we have decided to expand our system by the end of next month. This means that in June we will provide two new bouquets, classic bouquet and unique bouquet like we have done in Abuja and Lagos.”
He said the reduction of the price of the decoder from N7,000.00 to N3,900.00 was to help make digital television affordable by all individuals and assured subscribers of educative, informative and entertaining channels.
StarTimes Marketing Director, Port Harcourt operations, Ameh Dele, said with the price slash on the decoder, subscribers can now pay N4,900.00 to include one month subscription in the Basic Bouquet.
He said, “with the price for decoder at N3,900.00 plus one month subscription N4,900.00, customers can go home and have themselves experience digital television.
He also said, the new price regime was to ensure that no Nigerian is left out in the new resolution by the International Communication Union, which stipulates that all broadcasting in Nigeria must be digital by 2015.
On his part, Assistant Director, Marketing (NTA), Olumide Olaleye said the new pay television coming to Port Harcourt is beneficial in that it has provided employment in the state.
