Commissioner Tasks Stakeholders On Education Dev
The Rivers State Commissioner for Finance, Dr Chumberlian Peterside, has tasked political officer holders and stakeholders in the education sector to assist various government, at all levels in raising the standard of education in the country.
Dor Peterside, who stated this in his goodwill message at the Annual General Meeting/home coming of his Alma Mater Government secondary commercial school, Ibaa (now Uvawhu Comprehensive High School) noted that he owes a lot of gratitude to the role played by the school and the discipline the college has inbued in him.
The commissioner applauded the unrelenting effort of the Alumini Association for keeping the flag flying and bringing the members together.
Dr Peterside, who was a student of the school noted that the support of the association would continue to help strengthen the alma-mater as it progresses into the 21st Century and beyond, while commending the National President of Alumni Association, Government Secondary Commercial School Ibaa, Chief Sunny Chukwuemele, for his efforts in bringing those who passed through the school together.
Earlier, the National President of Alumni Association Chief Sunny Chukwuemele said the 9th Annual General Meeting and Home coming event was to enable the Association take stock and work on projects that would help the development of the school.
Chief Chukwuemele assured that the proposed dormitory project which is at the drawing table would be fast tracked this year.
The president commended a member of the association, Barr. Destiny Chima, who through the association donated a set of computer to the school authority.
The association also presented some mattresses to the school to help alleviate the suffering of youths corpers serving in the school.
Highlights of the occasion was a raffle draw, launching of Eagle Magazine by the students and commissioning of the computer set donated by Barr. Destiny Chima
Various prizes were won by teachers and other individuals who participated in the raffle draw.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector. Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
