RSUBEB Gets N4bn From FG
The Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board (RSUBEB), has received about N3.6 billion from the Federal Government, as part of its counterpart funding.
It also received over N800 million as part of Rivers State Government’s counterpart funding for 2011.
Board member I, RSUBEB, Mr Lucky Worluh stated this yesterday in an exclusive interview with The Tide, shortly after a capacity building workshop for project supervisors.
Mr Worluh, who spoke on behalf of the Executive Board Chairman, Sir Alli Oruitemeka, stated that the total sum of over N4 billion was for project implementation in Rivers State. Such projects, he explained, included building and furnishing of primary schools, similar to those built by the state government.
According to the board member I, the promptness of the RSUBEB’s implementation of projects was instrumental to the board’s invitation to make a presentation on how to access funds to execute projects and implement same.
“The presentation, which was done in December, 2011 at Abuja has made RSUBEB to stand out as the most performing SUBEB in the country,” he said.
Speaking earlier in his opening remarks while declaring the workshop open, the Executive Chairman of RSUBEB, Sir Oruitemeka urged the participants to take the workshop seriously, noting that all the achievements of RSUBEB were as a result of hardwork and commitment on the part of the staff.
He decried a situation where staff of the board were no longer carrying out their duties as required and called for a change of attitude.
The workshop was organised by the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics of RSUBEB.
