Sekibo, Reliable, Dependable Leader – Lawmaker
The member representing
Obio/Akpor Constituency Two in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, has described Senator George T. Sekibo as a reliable and dependable leader who has the interest of the common man at heart.
Hon Chinda said this at the grand finale of Senator Sekibo’s re-election campaign.
He said Sen. Sekibo had used his position as a Senate Committee Chairman on Defence to support Rivers State.
“One of such persons who benefited from Senator Sekibo’s effort is an Obio/Akpor son who was promoted to a General in the Army. We have not had it before, it is through his own contribution and good representation,” he said.
He also said that the senator’s empowerment scheme to widows and others as well as his support for every Rivers man was enough to re-elect him as a senator, adding that no one may do it better than Sekibo.
In their separate speeches, Ogu/Bolo, Okrika, Port Harcourt City, Obio/Akpor local governments, Maurene Tamuno, Tamuno Williams, Chimbiko Akarolo and Timothy Nsirim respectively assured Senator Sekibo of their total support, due to his level of support in the development of the senatorial district.
Meanwhile, Senator George Sekibo has promised to redouble his efforts if re-elected to represent Rivers senatorial district at the National Assembly.
He recalled how he had toiled to add colour to his senatorial district, while assuring on a better deal upon his victory.
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Chief Godspower U. Ake lauded party members and supporters who participated in the re-election campaign and assured that the party would continue to lead in the state.
Earlier, the leader of Action Congress of Nigeria chairmen of ACN in Ogu/Bolo Local Government, Pastor Francis Ebenezer and Hon. Bernard Alapu who were members of the Peoples Democratic Party, retuned to the PDP and pledged to work with Sekibo for his re-election.
In another development, the leadership of the National Union of Rivers State Students (NURSS), has endorsed the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Rivers East senatorial district re-run election, Senator George Thompson Sekibo, saying, he is a man who has become a husband not only to the women from his senatorial district but also almost all widows in the state.
Making the position known in a statement issued after its emergency meeting and signed by the union’s National President, Comrade Awotoye Warmate, NURSS said it unanimously resolved to support Sekibo as part of its function in the propagation of good governance.
The body also noted that senator Sekibo had prioritized education and single handedly offered scholarship awards to more than a thousand orphans and students from poor backgrounds, adding that the PDP candidate had showcased philanthropic gestures.
“He is the man the students of this state yearn for because he has proven to be a father to all,” NURSS said, and urged all students to vote for Sekibo at the polls.
Representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National Union of Etche Students (NUES), National Union of Ikwerre Students (NUIS) and National Union of Wakrike Students (WASU) also endorsed the document.
