Mobil Donates Laboratory Block To GSS Ogu
Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited has donated a Science Laboratory block, built at the cost of N24.95m to Government Secondary School Ogu in Ogu/Bolo local government area of Rivers State.
Speaking during the formal handing over of the laboratory block to the school, the Manager, Public and Government Affairs, Mobil Producing Nigeria, Adeyemi Fakayejo, said the project was part of the NNPC/MPN Joint Venture Community assisted programme to improve the lives of people in their areas of operation.
He called on the school authority to secure and maintain the project to enable students derive maximum benefit from it.
He said the company was committed to health and educational development which are the core issues of human development.
In his response, the Principal of Government Secondary School Ogu, Mr. M. Adokiye, thanked Mobil for the laboratory block and stated that the company’s gesture was complementary to the giant stride of the Rivers State Government in educational development.
Mr. Adokiye, who emphasised the need for the development of science education in the state so as to boost technological development called on other companies to emulate Mobil and appealed to Mobil to equip the laboratory block for functional use.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Hon. Adokiye Iyaye, commended Mobil over the project, and pointed out that students should make judicious use of the laboratory to enhance science based education.
Hon. Iyaye also appealed to the company to extend their gesture towards skills development of youths in the community while urging the company to provide water and electricity to service the laboratory for efficient services.

Education Commissioner Seeks media collaboration in Rivers
The River State Commissioner for Education, Dr Peters Nwagor has called on media practitioners in Rivers State to deploy their various communication platforms toward promoting government programmes and policies aimed at achieving sustainable development in the education sector.
