Court Confirms Adoki As Uwema Amalem
The High Court of Justice, Isiokpo Judicial Division presided over by Justice E.N. Thompson has confirmed Barr. Leonard Adoki (Esq.) as the Uwema Amalem Abuan in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The judgement read by Justice Thompson thus; “It is hereby declared that the claimant, Leonard Adoki is the paramount ruler/Chief/Uwema/Oolah Ema Amalem Abuan.
It is further declared that the defendant Mr. Promise Robinson is not the Uwema of Amalem Abua and so has no right to parade himself as or perform the functions of Uwema Amalem Abua.
When the incumbent Chief/Uwema and the claimant, Chief Leonard Adoki is alive and on the throne.
“The defendant promise Robinson, his agents, servants, privies and cohorts are perpetually restrained from installing the defendant as or claiming the defendant is Uwema/Chief/paramount of Amalem Abua and from interfering with the performance by the claimant of his functions as the Uwema of Amalem Abua.
The defendant shall pay to the claimant N1 million as damages for interference with rights, functions and duties of the claimant”.
The Judge also awarded N100,000.00 costs to the claimant.
Meanwhile, the Uwema Amalem, Chief Leonard Adoki in a maiden meeting held with chiefs, elders and youths of the community has urged the people to embrace peace, unity, love and shun all forms of violence at all times.
He used the opportunity to announce an eight members care-taker committee for the community. Those appointed include Elder Ukuoma Victor as chairman, while Allen Ukwu and kikpoye Asila will serve as secretary and youth leader respectively. Others are Hon. Mubula Owen, Oyeodin Oye, Fabia Boye and DSP Loveday Jonathan. Also included are james Akari, ThankGod Ayara and Elder Friday Ohos.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
