Maritime Body Wants Seaport In Bayelsa
The Chairman of the Bayelsa State Chapter of Nigerian Maritime Association, Mr Lois Sese has advocated the establishment of a seaport in the state.
Sese, who made the call in Yenagoa on Saturday, said that the establishment of a seaport had become imperative to create more job opportunities for youths in the state.
He said for a state where oil was first discovered in commercial quantity, the port would bring more development by attracting huge investments.
Sese added that with a seaport, it would be easier for the government to deal with the problem of piracy in the state.
He said that the union’s major challenge was insecurity on the waterways, which claimed 24 of its members in 2010.
