Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has signed the bill on the Management of Primary -healthcare Board recently passed by the State House of Assembly into law.
Speaking during a brief ceremony at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Amaechi said the law would ensure the setting up of an organizational structure for effective management of the model health centres across the state especially now that 60 of them were being commissioned.
Governor Amaechi also hinted that the Rivers State Primary Healthcare Management Board Law No. 10 of 2010, would assist in the management of the healthcentres, emphasising that “we need to have a structure in place to avoid unnecessary lapses in the management of the health centres”.
The governor thanked members of the State House of Assembly for their patriotism and commitment towards the passage of the bill and assured them of the preparedness of the Executive Council to work with the Legislature in the implementation of the law.
Governor Amaechi described the passage of the bill by the lawmakers as another accomplishment by the Assembly for the benefit of the people of state.
