Lawmaker Challenges Youths On Self Dev
The member, Rivers State House of Assembly representing Ahoada East Constituency I, Hon. Uname Robinson Ewoh, has advised youths in his area to make good use of their talents to better their lives.
According to him, this should be done through profitable ventures in order to make positive impact on themselves and society.
Hon Robinson, who was represented by Mr. Solomon Odoyi, at the formal launching of uniform and fund raising ceremony of Azhibudu age grade of Ula-Upata town in the Ahoada East local government area of the state, urged youths in the area to have respect for constituted authority with a view to support the good intentions of government in the development of their area.
Also speaking, chairman, Community Development Committee of the age grade, Chief David Ebeku, who is also the patron of the group, explained that the age grade, which comprises citizens of both sexes born between 1966 and 1967, aims at supporting developmental efforts to complement those of the state and local councils.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman of the local government area, Hon.Solomon Ebeku, who is also a member of the age grade enumerated some of the achievements of the group to include visit to charity home, scholarship to indigent people in the area and support for projects that impact positively on the lives of the people.
Earlier in an address of welcome presented by the general secretary of the group, Mr. Augustine Chime Zie, he explained that the founders, of the age grade found it necessary to come together in order to pull their resources together to help the community move forward in the area of development.
The event witnessed various cultural displays with an appeal to public spirited individuals to donate in cash and kind to the organization.

Technology Key to Nigeria’s Socio-Economic Development, Says Computer Scientist
Dr. Legborsi Emmanuel, former state Chairman of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), has emphasized that technology is the sure way for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
He made this assertion while speaking with newsmen at the sideline of 118th inaugural lecture series of Rivers State University (RSU) held in port Harcourt, wednesday.
He stressed that the lecture, which focused on emerging technology and its impact on the socio-economic development of the country, aligns with the NCS’s economic focus.
He highlighted the importance of building an economy driven by technology, citing the success of the Rivers State Smart Economy policy as an example.
The computer scientist emphasized the need for innovation and doing things differently, asserting that “technology is the only way out” for Nigeria’s development. He praised the lecturer, Professor Mathias Daniel, for exploring the applications of technology in various sectors, including agriculture, industry, transport, and socio-economics.
Dr. Emmanuel underscores the critical role technology plays in driving socio-economic growth and development in Nigeria by leveraging technology, the country can unlock new opportunities and address pressing challenges.
