Senator Peto Dies
Sen. Kawu Peto (PDP Gombe North) died in Kaduna on Friday, an aide said.
The aide, Malam Abdullahi Nuhu, told newsmen that Peto, 52, died after a brief illness
Nuhu said that Peto, who died at 6.30 p.m., had complained of “some affliction” and gone to the hospital for treatment but that the condition deteriorated
The remains of the senator are expected in Gombe on Saturday for burial, Nuhu said.
Peto, a first term senator, who was elected to the National Assembly in 2007, was born on Jan. 14, 1958.
He was the speaker of Gombe State House of Assembly between 2003 and 2007.
Peto, who had an HND in Business Management, was first elected as a member of the state assembly in 1999.
The Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Usman Nafada, expressed regret over the death of another senator from his state.
Nafada said that the death was a great loss not only to Gombe, the National Assembly, but to the entire country.
He described him as a great politician whose demise would be missed by all.
It would be recalled that on Wednesday, March 30, Sen. Tawar Wada, representing Gombe South, died in Abuja.
