Owerewere Community Lauds SPDC Over Community Dev
The Owerewere community in Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State has commended the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, for allocating their 20 inch unearthed scrap pipes to the community as part of its community development effort.
In a statement issued weekend, the paramount ruler of the community, HRH Chief T.K.D. Ezikwas said the landlords on the Rumuekpe /Kolo Creek Trunkline and representatives of Owerewere community are happy with the gesture.
Chief Ezikwas noted that the development was sequel to a recent meeting between officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, SPDC and the 10 host communities’ representatives during which the SPDC reaffirmed their earlier allocations of the said unearthed pipes, adding that the communities “are immensely grateful”.
The traditional ruler also expressed gratitude for the redemption of a pledge of two Hiace buses to the community in 2005 by SPDC in compliance with an earlier Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The statement was jointly signed by Chief Ezikwas, Chief Anthony Ekpelu of Oola Abbi, Chief Saturday Omu, Barr. E.S. Omeghala and Alhaji O.S.A. Omeghara, among others.
