RSNC Poised To Launder N’Delta Image
The Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC), publisher of Tide Group of Newspapers has pledged to remain focused in its determination to clear the battered image of the Niger Delta region.
The General Manager of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo stated this when the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Planning Committee for its forthcoming Annual General Meeting paid him a courtesy call in his office. He noted that The Tide still remained the authoritative voice of the Niger Delta region in view of its stand and role in promoting the region.
According to him, The Tide has a fundamental role to play in re-branding the Niger Delta region. “This is because we are the oldest newspaper in the region and also the voice of the region,” he declared.
He assured the institute AGM planning committee that The Tide would give the event the needed publicity and coverage adding that the theme of the AGM is in line with what the paper believed would cleanse the bad image which the region bears.
Earlier, the chairman of the NIPR AGM planning committee, Mr Samuel Tobin had said they were in the corporation to notify the GM of the institute’s forth coming AGM and to seek for assistance in the area of publicity.
Tobin said the idea of this year AGM is to partner with people and organisations around hence the theme of this year’s conference “communicating under crisis in the Niger Delta”.
He disclosed that Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi would declared the occasion open while the Commissioner for Information, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari will deliver a key note address.
Tobin also said the Action Congress leader in Rivers State, Prince Tonye J. T. Princewill will be the chairman of the occasion while the permanent secretary, Ministry of Information will also deliver a lecture.
