Brown Disappointed At Being Left Out
Heartland goalkeeper Austin Brown is disappointed to have been left out of Nigeria’s 32-man African Nations Cup preparatory squad, but is refusing to be drawn into voicing out those feelings. Brown was one of the domestic league players tipped by many to be tapped up by Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu for the Super Eagles following eye-opening performances for Heartland as they reached the CAF Champions League Final. Instead, Brown, a former training partner of current Eagles first-choice Vincent Enyeama, was overlooked in favour of Bayelsa United’s Bassey Akpan. “I don’t know why I was left out. Maybe it’s because I don’t have anyone to push my case and remind them about me, I don’t know,” he tells Tidesports source. “It is up to the coach to select who he wants. I will just keep doing my best for my club and if my time comes, I will be there.”
