Chief (Dr) Etete-Owoh who said this during a courtesy call on him by the 2009 press week committee of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Rivers State Council urged them to always crosscheck their facts before publication.
He said that the present administration of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has created a conducive environment for the operation of media organisations in the state.
According to him, the government has graciously allowed the free flow of information in the state and urged the media to reciprocate the gesture by refraining from falsehood.
The commission boss however thanked the press week committee for the visit and assured of his support.
Earlier the chairman of the committee, Mr. Vincent Needom had briefed the commission chairman on activities for the 2009 press week.

Mr. Needom who described Chief Etele-Owoh as friend of journalists however appealed for sponsorship of the week.
