ACA, New Akpor Monarch To Synergise On Peace, Dev
The Akpor Consultative Assembly (ACA) has paid a congratulatory visit to the new Nye Nwe-Ali Akpor Kingdom, Eze Levi Amos Oriebe, over the presentation of staff of office by the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike.
Speaking during the visit, the President of Akpor Consultative Assembly, Chief Hanny Woko expressed belief of the association that the new Nye Nwe-Ali Akpor would bring to bear his wealth of experience and exposure on the discharge of his traditionally assigned duties.
Woko enjoined the people of Akpor Kingdom to give unalloyed support to the new Nye Nwe-Ali Akpor by sustaining the peaceful atmosphere of the town, stressing that peace was essential for the development of any society.
He wished the new monarch a peaceful, prosperous and long reign as the paramount ruler of Akpor Kingdom.
The president said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has never lost an election in Akpor Kingdom, saying that the association would complement the rulership in Akpor Kingdom.
In his response, the Nye Nwe-Ali Akpor Kingdom, Eze Levi Amos Oriebe, thanked Akpor Consultative Assembly for the visit, saying that Akpor Kingdom would continue to work with government at all levels for the common good of Akpor Kingdom.
He advised the people of Akpor to be in unity in other to attract development to the kingdom.
The monarch prayed to God to give him good health and wisdom to enable him direct the affairs of Akpor Kingdom.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
