ondary School (GASS), Elele, in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Rivers State, has won this year’s Coppa Coca Cola under 15 Junior Secondary School Football tournament.GASS beat hard fighting Okrika National Secondary School (ONSS) with alone goal in the second Stanza of the game, courtesy of Clifford Maxwell.The encounter which saw huge crowd was played at the Community Secondary Amadi-Ama School Field, in Port Harcourt Local Government Area, Thursday last week.The game Master of GASS, Amos Onunwor said the win has qualified the school to participate in the forthcoming national football championship in Enugu, billed to commence on Monday.According to him, the competition would sports development in the country, must especially from the secondary school level.This competition will discover hidden talents and rekindle sports in the state”, Onunwor said.The game Master who is also a grade one referee expressed sadness over the neglect of Sports development in the country, saying that sports compliments academics.He explained that his players would be on intensive training to ensure victory during the competition.Onunwor used the forum to appeal to the state government to support the team in all ramificatioans, and commended the Principal of GASS for his commitment to the competition.
