So-Yeon Wins Second LPGA Title
South Korea’s Ryu
So-Yeon claimed her first LPGA title in over two years by winning the Canadian Women’s Open this week.
The 24-year-old’s final-round three-under 69 saw her post a tournament record 23 under and beat compatriot Choi Na-Yeon by two shots in Ontario.
Five-time major winner Inbee Park, also of South Korea, was third on 18 under.
“I didn’t care about anybody else,” said Ryu. “I focused on my game. I wasn’t playing my best game on the back nine but I just kept through it.”
Ryu, whose only other prior LPGA crown came at the 2012 Toledo Classic, had recorded 27 top-10 finishes since that prior victory, 10 of them last season and nine more this year.
The 2011 US Women’s Open champion will move up to fifth in the world rankings as a result of her latest win.
