‘Keshi, Working For NFF ’
A former Vice Chairman of
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chief Obinna Ogba, has advised soccer fans to understand the relationship between the NFF and the national team coach.
Ogba told newsmen in Abakaliki that the relationship between the NFF and Coach Stephen Keshi was not that of master-servant.
He said that the NFF was not interfering nor imposing itself on the coach as many would want Nigerians to believe.
“The NFA employed Keshi to work for it and should make necessary inputs to ensure overall success because it will also be blamed in case of failure.
“As a former vice chairman of the body, I know that both parties are required to be consulting on regular basis, but not to make their decisions public despite people’s notion,” he said.
The Ebonyi Football Association Chairman called on Keshi to ensure that he selected the best 23 players for the World Cup and be prepared to handle the players’ character.
“The job of any coach is to instill the best technical and tactical knowledge into players and also handle their behaviour.
“These players come from different family backgrounds and have varying life experiences, so the coach should effectively manage these to bring out the best from them”.
He also advised the NFF to be focused and provide all requirements needed to ensure The Eagles’ successful outing in Brazil.
“The body should not be distracted by the issue of its consultations with Keshi, but cooperate with him to ensure that the team gets adequate preparation and are well motivated for the World Cup,” he said.
