DPR Workers Tasked On Safety Laws
The Director of Petroleum Resources (DPR), Mr. George Osahon, has advised members of staff of the department to mandatorily comply with safety laws, regulations, standards and procedures as part of their personal responsibility.
Osahon, in a statement on Wednesday, was quoted as making this call during the inauguration of the 2013 DPR HSE week, in Lagos recently.
He said health, safety and environment in the oil and gas industry were as critical as other core industry businesses like exploration and production.
Therefore, the DPR as industry regulator must demonstrate good example in HSE practice, he stressed.
He advised that the theme of the HSE week, which is ‘Improving Personal Safety in the Work Place,’ should be imbibed by staff members in their work culture so as to guarantee overall safety.
He explained that HSE in DPR is a core value, which must guide in helping the department to deliver on government’s aspirations for the oil and gas industry.
Osahon gave the assurance that the management would continue to provide resources to ensure that health, safety and security of staff members are protected at all times.
