Gininwa Charges Traditional Rulers On Peace
As Christians all over the world continue to celebrate Christmas and New Year, all traditional rulers in Rivers State have been charged to ensure that they maintain sustainable peace in their domain.
Chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King Godwin N.K. Gininwa, gave the charge in his Christmas and New Year message in his office in Port Harcourt. “My Christmas and new year message to all traditional rulers in the State is that they should ensure that adequate peace is maintained in their various communities,” he said.
Gininwa who described Christmas as a time of merriment also noted that it could also be a period of crisis as people from all walks of life with different style of living come together at such a time which gives room to all manners of trouble and enjoined the royal fathers to wake up to their responsibilities in order to ensure that peace, unity and love is given priority throughout the festive season and thereafter.
King Gininwa who is also the President of Ogoni Supreme Council of Traditional Rulers called on stakeholders, Non Governmental Organisations (NGOs), government and private agencies as well as all Rivers to extend hand of fellowship to flood victims in the State while they celebrate with their families. “The only way we can make the flood victims feel the joy of Christmas is to send them food items so that they and their families will not remember the pains from the flood”.
He thanked the Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for his support to the flood victims which according to him has eased their sufferings while wishing Rivers people a merry Christmas and a new prosperous New Year celebration.
