Gunmen Free Traditional Ruler
The traditional ruler of Ogboin Kingdom in Bayelsa State, Chief Oweipa Sere, abducted by gunmen on June 26, has been set free by his abductors.
Sere was abducted in Emohua, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers while inspecting his dredger.
The kidnappers asked for a ransom of N50m.
The spokesman for the Rivers police command, Mr Ben Ugwuegbulam, told newsmen in Port Harcourt on Saturday that the ruler was freed in the early hours of Saturday.
“This followed the persistent raid and pressure on the suspects by the police, the State Security Service and military teams.’’
