Police Rescue 4-Year-Old Boy From Kidnappers
Police in Rivers State have rescued a four year old boy, Master Gerald Ani, who was kidnapped Tuesday by unknown gunmen in Port Harcourt.
The kidnapped victim, who is the son of one Engr Ikechukwu Ani was said to have been kidnapped at No 4 Christ Avenue, Rumuopirikom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state at about 9.00pm by suspected kidnappers who claimed to be members of Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), who went to search the house of Mr Ani for illicit drugs.
As the mother of the victim demanded for a search warrant from the fake NDLEA men, they allegedly took young Ani and drove away to an undisclosed destination.
According to the Commissioner of Police, Mr Suleiman Abba, Police on a tip-off trailed the kidnappers to Colombia Water Front at the Eastern By-pass in Port Harcourt where they abandoned the victim in a jeep and jumped into the river and escaped.
Meanwhile, the police commissioner, Mr Abba told newsmen that he has so far recovered over three kidnap victims since he assumed office in Rivers State as commissioner of police.
He said, last week one Ledum Deduam, David Chibuzor and Madam Irene N. were rescued from kdnappers at Rumuolumeni in Obio/Akpor Local Governmetn Area of the state.
He said the rescue of the kidnapped victims was the result of his men being charged by him for thorough security alert in the state.
The police boss called for the support of the good citizens of the state for timely and accurate information to rid the state of all forms of criminality.
