Legislator Wants Youths To Embrace Skills Training
The member
representing Ughelli North I Constituency in the Delta House of Assembly, Mr Edoja Akpodiete, has urged youths to embrace skills acquisition programmes.
Akpodiete said in Asaba recently that one of the ways through which unemployment could be tackled was through acquisition of skills.
He, however, noted that most youths in the country were not willing to acquire skills that could make them self employed and employers of labour.
The lawmaker decried the rate at which youths reject skills acquisition programmes that would make them to be self-employed.
Akpodiete said the security challenges facing the country today could be tackled if youths were willing to acquire relevant skills to earn them a living.
The lawmaker commended the state government over its policies and programmes which he said were geared toward youth empowerment.
Akpodiete called on youths in the state to take advantage of the micro credit programme of the state government and other empowerment initiatives to be self-employed.
