NDDC Commends Staff’s Role In Advancing Dev
The Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr Samuel Ogbuku, has commended staff of the commission for their pivotal roles in advancing Niger Delta regional development.
Ogbuku made the commendation at the opening of a three-day capacity building workshop for staff of the Corporate Affairs Department, in Port Harcourt.
Speaking at the workshop with the theme, “Corporate Communications Strategy: Everyone’s Business”, he said NDDC’s media department had remained committed towards educating the public about its programmes.
The Managing Director reiterated the commission’s resolve to ensure regular training and retraining of its workforce for effective service delivery.
He said the training is aimed to strengthen staff capacity and promote the building of team spirit for collective realisation of the commission’s goal of developing the region.
“We should endeavour not to confine ourselves to routine tasks, we should strive for creativity and innovation in our roles.
“Let us approach our job with passion, and not just because the government is paying us. We should utilise every opportunity to demonstrate our ingenuity”, he urged.
Ogbuku continued that only hard working and innovative staff will earn the agency’s recognition, adding, “we should be focused towards achieving set goals”.
The NDDC helmsman stated that under his watch, the commission had made visible impacts on the wellbeing of the region.
The Director, Corporate Affairs, Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama, thanked the Managing Director for approving the training programme.
She stated that the training was designed to enhance the competencies of personnel in the Corporate Affairs Department.
“The retreat will better equip staff to engage more effectively with the commission’s stakeholders”, she said.
Veteran broadcaster, Mrs Eugenia Abu, in her presentation, urged the participants to realise the importance of understanding the commission’s diverse stakeholders for effective engagement.
In a lecture titled, “Effective Communication Strategy”, Abu said corporate communication requires courteous, meticulous, and well-coordinated strategies to achieve success.
