CTC Chairperson Commends Fubara Over Visionary Leadership
Caretaker Committee Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Princess Ibiene Ogan, has commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s visionary leadership which has brought peace and development to all parts of the state.
Princess Ogan who said this while swearing in other members of the committee in Okrika, headquarters of the LGA, also urged the people of Okrika to give their full and unflinching support to the Governor.
She said through the visionary leadership of the Governor, every part of the State is experiencing one form of development or the other.
The caretaker chairman also said her administration will embark on people-oriented programmes that will improve the living conditions of the people.
According to her, issues of human capacity development will be given a boost while the people will be encouraged to go into farming and fishing so as to contain the food crisis in the area.
Princess Ogan also pledged to ensure regular electricity supply in Okrika while the women will be empowered with soft loans.
Princess Ogan, whose address was christened “Concerned About Prosperity’, said the problem of flooding in the island will be addressed with regular desilting of drainages.
In her words, “Today, I am excited to introduce my pet project which is christened “Concerned About Prosperity’. This embodies my commitment to the comprehensive development and prosperity of Okrika”.
According to her, the administration will work tirelessly to ensure that Okrika LGA has a regular and reliable supply of electricity to foster growth and improve the quality of life.
“We will meet with the youth and share in their aspirations. We will hold the first ever youth summit in Okrika LGA.
“Our youth will be actively engaged in fishing activities into the wider sea to enable them to make more money. We will provide cold storage facilities to support them.
“Our farmers will have access to improved varieties, and we will organise agric fair where their harvests can be displayed to enable them to earn money”, she said.
Princess Ogan said her administration wii facilitate access to soft loans, enabling women to thrive in trade and entrepreneurship.while effort will be made to build the capacity of the people with the view to enhancing their skills, knowledge, and opportunities for all.
She also promised regular engagement with The Simplified Movement family in Okrika LGA with the view to ensuring that they are carried along in the scheme of things.
Other programmes include prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements to workers in the area.
She commended the people for their support and assured them that her Administration will uphold the cherished values of the people.
Those sworn in were Kendrick Christian, Andy Okereke, Amieietamuno Loveday, Toku Obianime and Tamunosiki LongJohn.
Speaking on behalf of the caretake committee members, Hon Toku Obianime thanked the people of Okrika for the confidence reposed in them, adding that he and his colleagues will work with the chairman to develop the area.
Also speaking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Leader in Okrika, Mrs Florence Kaln, thanked Governor Fubara for appointing Princess Ogan to head the Caretaker Committee in Okrika.
Mrs Kaln said, by the appointment, Princess Ogan has opened the door for women to aspire to any position in the area.
The event also witnessed the swearing in of the Secretary of Council, Gold Okujagu.

LP Crisis: Ex-NWC Member Dumps Dumps Abure Faction
Mr Ojukwu, who recently returned to the interim National Working Committee led by Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, noted that the party had 34 elected members in the House of Representatives, eight Senators, and 80 members at the state Houses of Assembly after the 2023 general elections.
“Now we lost all of them,” he said. “I don’t think we have as many as five members in the National Assembly.”
The former national officer of the LP talked to journalists in Abuja and said he chose to join the caretaker committee led by Senator Nenadi-Usman because they are now the officially recognized leaders of the Party.
“I chose to work with the caretaker committee to help save the Labour Party, for the benefit of the party. I also want to use this chance to ask my colleagues at the national, state, and local government levels to come together and help rebuild our party.
“Another election is around the corner. We lost everything we have. They have left to other political parties. So I’ll reach out to all my friends in the other group to get together and work on making this party stronger again.
“The caretaker committee has formed a reconciliation committee. Let’s come together and talk so that we can restore the first opposition political party in Nigeria.”
Mr Ojukwu, who was part of the Julius Abure’s group, said there are no more factions in the LP.
He added, “There is a court ruling, and since it is valid, the right people are in the correct positions.”
He urged Barr Abure and others to drop the legal cases they have filed because they are not helping the party.
“Litigations are killing political parties”, he said. “They’ve seen many political parties disappear because of legal battles, and the Labor Party is losing support every day, which makes me feel sad.”
Mr Ojukwu said he did not think joining the Senator Nenadi-Usman’s NWC was a betrayal of the Abure group, describing himself as “the oxygen” of that faction.
“I’m with this group because of the verdict. But I never betrayed anybody. Rather, I was betrayed,” he added.
