Rivers Civil Servants Pledge Support to Governor Fubara

Civil servants in Rivers State have vowed to give their support to ensure the success of the administration of the state governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
The Head of the Rivers State Civil Service. Dr. George Nwaeke, stated this at the thanksgiving service held at St. Jude’s Military Church, Birabi Street, GRA Phase 1, Port Harcourt as part of activities of the Rivers State Civil Service Week/Awards Ceremony 2023.
Those in the service included permanent secretaries and heads of parastatals, directors, union leaders and friends of the service.
Nwaeke stated that the civil service has been the engine room of any government and that the fact the governor of the state was a civil servant before resigning to contest for the governorship of the state was an added reason why the civil servants would give him all the support to ensure the success of his administration.
He said this year’s celebration of the civil service week was unique because this year’s event was the first to be held at a time the governor was a civil servant.
His words: “We have every good reason to thank God because this is the first time that we have a civil servant as the governor of Rivers State.
“The governor was our colleague until God called him and he resigned to contest for the governorship of Rivers State. To God be the glory that he won the elections and became the first civil servant to be the governor of Rivers State.
“To God be the glory he has started on a very good note. As we speak, the things he has done for us as civil servants and for Rivers State as a whole speaks volumes as to what civil servants can do.
We are also thanking GOD as civil servants for what God has done for us in our job. You know civil servants are the mirror of any society. People do not know what civil servants do to keep the government and society going. But we thank God for being our helper all these years and for keeping us going despite our challenges, for preserving our health and for protecting us. So, we have come here to thank God for all He has done for us and to pray that he continues to help us to discharge our duties whole heartedly and diligently, and to assist our governor to continue to work for the people of Rivers State.”
The Head of Service stated that the yearly celebration was declared across the nation, with the theme: Digitalization of Work Process in the Public Service: Gateway to Efficient Resources Utilization and national Development.
At the end of the service, the Head of Service led the top civil servants on a visit to the Children Home, Borokiri, Port Harcourt, and Home of the Elderly, Harbour Road, Port Harcourt where they extended gifts to the residents of the charity homes.

HoS Hails Fubara Over Provision of Accommodation for Permanent Secretaries

The Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, Dr. Mrs. Inyingi S. I. Brown, has commended Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, for approving befitting accommodation for Permanent Secretaries in the state.

According to the Head of Service, Governor Fubara has continued to demonstrate uncommon commitment to the welfare of civil servants in Rivers State, stressing that such gestures underscore his people-oriented leadership style. Speaking on behalf of the Body of Permanent Secretaries, Dr. Brown congratulated Governor Fubara on the occasion of his 51st birthday, describing him as “a Governor who leads by serving.”

She further praised the governor’s service-driven and people-centred leadership approach, noting that it has significantly contributed to institutional stability and improved efficiency within the state’s public service. As part of activities to mark the governor’s birthday, the Body of Permanent Secretaries announced the sponsorship of 329 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms for indigent students across the state.

A breakdown of the initiative shows that 319 forms will be distributed across the 319 political wards in Rivers State, while five forms are allocated to non-indigenes and five forms to persons living with disabilities.
