FG Orders MDAs To Comply With New Service Rules
The Federal Government yesterday ordered federal Ministries, Departments, Agencies, parastatals, among others to commence the implementation of the new Public Service Rules with immediate effect.
The Tide source reports that the Public Service Rules contain guidelines of codes and conduct of civil servants, disciplinary measures among others.
Speaking at the State House yesterday during the unveiling of the newly revised PSR, the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, explained that the PSR was reviewed shortly before the exit of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
“The new Public Service Rules were revised before the end of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration and in line with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu, we are launching it and we expect that MDAs will begin the implementation.”
Speaking on the digitalisation agenda of the civil service, Yemi-Esan noted that extensive work was carried out to put the required mechanisms in place for a smooth transition from physical handling of tasks to electronic means.
“Following the very extensive work carried out to put in place the required mechanisms for the smooth transition from physical handling of tasks, I am pleased to state that the Office of the Head of Service has gone digital with its work processes. By this, I mean, all the personal and policy files have been scanned and stored in digital format; workflow processes are now transacted within the office digitally.
“All official correspondence in form of memos, internal and external circulars, are processed electronically through the ECM Solution and this is one of the great milestones being celebrated today. From the Service-wide perspective, all MDAs are running with the digitalisation programme and are at different stages of implementation; with a mandate for all to achieve full migration by the end of 2025.
