86 Jostle For 40 FGN SUBEB Projects In Rivers
A total of 86 prospective companies are jostling for the 40 Federal Government Universal Basic Education Board projects to be executed in Rivers State.
The job slots are for the 2021 Federal Government of Nigeria and the Universal Basic Education intervention funds.
Speaking at the bid opening ceremony for the project execution by the prospective bidders at the board premises, over the weekend, the Executive Chairman of the board, Ven Fyneface Akah, commended the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for prompt payment of the state’s counterpart fund, adding that the state has been noted for project delivery.
Akah told the would-be lucky winners that the jobs have deliverytimeframe and specifications,which must be adhered to, adding that the board had outlined measures to monitor the contractors.
According to him, the job delivery has specifications, and warned them not to see the opportunity as a jamboree but must abide by the contractual agreement.
“Some jobs have three,six and 12 months of delivery, and have counterpart funding,we do not allow our superior supervisors to find us wanting”.
Akah used the opportunity to appeal to the benefiting host communities to support government and see the projects as their own by providing enabling peaceful environment that would ensure the delivery of the projects as scheduled.
The RSUBEB boss averred that any application that does not have any representative at the ceremony,the board would declare their entry as invalid.
Also speaking, the Director, Physical Planning, RSUBEB, Mr Nwizug Ntamabari, disclosed that a total of 86 companies applied for the jobS, adding that out of it,ECDC got six, primary 26, procurement 13, while water and sanitation 1.
He advised those would be contractors to ensure that they engaged prudent engineers to man there sites so as to deliver according to time scheduled.
Also speaking, one of the prospective contractors, Mr Gideon Ofori, commended the management of the board and the state government for the opportunity, and described the process as transparent.
The ICPC, NGO and the media were all represented.
