Delta Tasks New Teachers On Professionalism
The Head of Service, Delta State, Mr Reginald Bayoko, has urged newly recruited teachers into the Delta State Unified Teaching Service to acquaint themselves with the Public Service Rules (PSR) and embrace professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Bayoko in a statement urged the newly recruited teachers to always put the interest of the students first as partners with the sttate government in building a prosperous Delta State.
He congratulated the new teachers urging them to build on the laid down legacies of the State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, who approved their recruitment.
“The state had designed and implementing a robust school supervisory system that will facilitate on the spot teachers support and routine teachers professional development.
“Teachers must be held accountable for translating the investment of the state in education into learning outcome.
“The era of teachers not being trained or upskilled for 15 years is definitely over in the state because children will have to perform better,” he said.
Bayoko said the recruitment of the young, vibrant, professional and aspiring teaching personnel was a response to the teachers gap in classrooms.
He described teachers as the most valuable resource in delivery of public service basic education, hence the reason his government prioritised their recruitment, replacement and upsloping.
“I commend teachers in the state; their efforts have changed the culture in all classes in the state to meet international best practice,” he added.
