Nemieboka Flags Off Empowerment Scheme For Youths In Ogu/Bolo …Pledges Full Support Of PDP To Wike
In his bid to boost the local economy and alleviate youth restiveness and unemployment, the Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Council, Barrister Vincent Nemieboka, last Wednesday, flagged off a quick impact “Youth Empowerment Scheme” for the people.
Beneficiaries of the scheme were drawn from all 12 wards of the LGA and intended to support small scale businesses, entrepreneurs and artisan workers, which in turn, would boost the economy of the area and create a source of livelihood for the people.
Speaking during the flag off ceremony, Nemieboka said though the scheme had commenced, it was important to officially flag off the programme because it was a project that had been budgeted for to the tune of N8million.
He said the success of the programme in the first phase would determine its continuation, adding that it was a replica of some of the empowerment programmes lunched by the Federal Government.
Nemieboka commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, for recently appointing over 100,000 people in the state to serve as special adviser.
He said these persons had been very instrumental in the electoral victories in the state.
He said as chairman, he would ensure that he would complete every project that he has started, not politicising any infrastructure development projects but would ensure it was beneficial to everyone.
He charged them to be faithful to the cause of the party.
He said all the projects that he had started in all the communities would be commissioned before the proper commencement of campaigns, and used the occasion to reel out the various projects that his administration had started.
On the skill acquisition programme, Nemieboka said he was poised to ensure that everyone that applied gets trained because the money was meant to be spent on the people.
On the pending issue of the PDP in Rivers State, Nemieboka said Ogu/Bolo was fully in support of the governor, who was the leader of PDP in Rivers State because he had been instrumental to the emergence of every leader in the area.
He, therefore, called on all members of PDP in Ogu/Bolo to be careful in all they do and keep faith with the leadership of the party.
He enjoined them to participate fully in the campaigns, assuring them that all the PDP candidates would come out victorious in the forthcoming elections.
Other leaders of the PDP, who spoke separately, eulogised the leadership virtues of Nemieboka, and encouraged those in attendance to continue in their loyalty to the party and work together to achieve success in 2023.
