RSG Opens Tenders For Four Capital Projects

The Rivers State Ministry of Education has opened the bidding process for four of its capital projects in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
The bid opening programme, which took place at the Conference Hall of the ministry, had bidders of the various capital projects as representatives of their companies and procurement officers of the ministry, including staff of Rivers State Bureau on Public Procurement in attendance.
In his opening remarks, the Commissioner for Education, Prof Prince Chinedu Mmom, said the ministry was following government-stipulated standards of procurement in the award of its contracts, adding that he wants the process to be transparent and reliable enough in line with the laws of the land.
Mmom said, “What is being done here today is part of the demands of government that every contract to be awarded needs to pass through the process of bidding, and as a responsive government, these policies need to be implemented to the later”.
He further advised the stakeholders to carryout due diligence in the bidding process to the satisfaction of every party involved, in compliance with the demands of government’s due process.
He urged all the participants to be as transparent as possible so that the outcome of the process would be reliable and seamless such that every party involved would be satisfied at the end, whether the job favours them or not.
The four projects for the bid opening are printing of 331,000 copies of Continuous Assessment booklets for both junior and senior secondary schools in the state, landscaping of Bonny National Grammar School, purchase of office equipment for the ministry, and purchase of teaching and instructional materials for both junior and senior secondary schools in Rivers State.
