Rivers Assembly Chief Whip Bags Award Of Excellence
The lawmaker representing the Ogu/Bolo Constituency and the Chief Whip of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Evans Bipi, was on Friday, honoured with an award of excellence for his iconic stance toward the education of students and youths.
The award was conferred on Bipi by the Students Union Government (SUG) of the Rivers State University, during its grand finale of Facts And Furious, Spelling Bee And Quiz Competition, at the Amphitheatre of the Port Harcourt.
President, Students Union Government of Rivers State University, Mr Kelechy Omano, said that the award was in recognition of his iconic stance towards the education of students and youths, especially his unrelenting support to the SUG, the student community, and the youths in Rivers State and beyond.
He said, “We deemed it fit to organise this event in his honour. May I, on behalf of the presidency, present this award of excellence to Rt Hon. Evans Bapakaye Bipi, Chief Whip, Rivers State House of Assembly, for his iconic stance towards the education of students and youths and unrelenting support to SUG.”
In his remarks, Hon. Evans Bipi who was represented by Comrade Abraham Awoitamuno thanked the Students Union Government of Rivers State University for the award of excellence.
He urged the students to imbibe a positive attitude toward academic activities; to be focused and never lose sight of their responsibilities as students.
The award came less than a month after Hon. Evans Bipi, in demonstration of his commitment to support inclusive and qualitative education, endorsed a special Spelling Bee And Quiz Competition; an initiative of the Students Union Government (SUG) of Rivers State University.
The event featured several programs, including the presentation of prizes to the winners of the Spelling Bee and Quiz Competition, respectively, a raffle draw, dance, and musical performances.
