Immigration Boss Rates Ogu/Bolo High In Service Delivery
The Comptroller of Immigration, Rivers State Command, A.J.Kwasau, has rated the performance of the Chairman of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Barrister Vincent Nemieboka high, and challenged him to do more for the people of the people of the area.
Kwasau made the assessment when he paid a courtesy visit to the council chairman in his office at the Council Secretariat in Ogu.
The visit was part of the comptroller’s familiarisation tour to the local government areas in Rivers State.
Speaking during the visit, Nemieboka thanked the comptroller for his kind words, and assured him of the continuous support of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Council to ensure that the officers and men of the NIS posted to Ogu/Bolo were comfortable so they can carry out their duties efficiently and effectively.
Nemieboka thanked him for promising to send more men in order to beef up security even though the area was peaceful, and promised to seek for accommodation while working to secure their welfare and make their stay comfortable.
The chairman commended the Deputy Immigration Officer in Charge of Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Deputy Superintendent of Immigration, Moses Odual, for all the efforts he has put in ensuring Ogu/Bolo was secure, and promised to provide furniture for the office and also upgrade their welfare package to accommodate the newly posted officers.
Earlier in his speech, Comptroller of Immigration, Rivers State Command, A.J. Kwasau, said the visit was part of the schedule of NIS aimed at familiarising itself with the operational areas at the grassroots.
He said his visit to Ogu/Bolo was a continuous one as he has visited other LGAs to get information on the challenges they were facing, especially in security and see how solutions can be proffered to the challenges.
He thanked Nemieboka for the assistance he has given to the security agencies stationed in Ogu/Bolo, especially the NIS.
He said he was impressed with the chairman’s effort towards office accommodate and housing, and adjudged Ogu/Bolo as the best from the ones he has visited so far.
On the issue of security, Kwasau said Ogu/Bolo was peaceful because the Immigration officers posted to Ogu have refused to be posted to other places despite the juicy offer given to them.
“They have attested to the fact that Ogu is a peaceful place”, he said.
The comptroller promised to increase the number of officers in Ogu/Bolo so they can cover the nooks and crannies of the area,“especially now that we are approaching an election year so illegal immigrants would not be used to cause problems during the election”.
In this regard, Kwasau solicited the help of chairman to provide NIS personnel with accommodation.
In his closing remarks, the Chairman, Ogu Divisional Council of Chiefs, Chief Lawrence Williams Iyama, on behalf of the chiefs and people of Ogu community, thanked Kwasau for visiting Ogu/Bolo.
He said that the visit would strengthen the relationship and cooperation the community has with NIS, which he added, would bring about progress in the area.
