Guber: Group Drums Support For Fubara
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike has been commended for his foresight and doggedness in enthroning equity, justice and fairness in the choice of the governorship flag-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in the 2023 general election.
The Rivers Equity Group, a socio-political pressure group made the commendation, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, following the decision by delegates to vote a governorship flag-bearer from the South East Senatorial District of the state and the subsequent emergence of Amaopusenibo Siminialayi Joseph Fubara as the candidate of the party.
A statement signed by a leader of the group, Elder Clapton Ogolo, stated that by insisting that the South East Senatorial District should produce the candidate of the party, for the first time in the 55 years history of the state, Wike has proven for the umpteenth time that he was a man who believes in equity and justice.
“We have always believed that our Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, who over the years has maintained his stand of giving every part of the state a sense of belonging, would do the needful. We are, indeed, very grateful to him and all the aspirants who have accepted the decision of the party”, Ogolo stated.
Ogolo, a former commissioner for local government, chieftaincy and community affairs in the state and chieftain of the PDP from the South East Senatorial District, noted that the election of Fubara was a statement on the pedigree of the candidate who is a highly distinguished accountant.
He added that Fubara has served the state meritoriously over the years, rising to the top of the civil service as a permanent secretary after holding various positions related to his profession without blemish, adding that the PDP Governorship candidate was a prudent manager of men and resources.
He appealed to all party faithful in the state to rally round the governor and the candidate of the PDP in the 2023 election to ensure that the state maintains its tradition as a core PDP state in Nigeria.
In another development, Ogolo commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief NyesomWike, for his spectacular outing at the just-concluded PDP Presidential Primary election.
Ogolonoted that but for the betrayal and sabotage by enemies of the Niger Delta, the PDP presidential ticket would have been his for the taking.
He noted that by his outing all through the period of the campaign, Wike proved that he had the charisma, character, experience and pedigree to halt Nigeria’s current drift and rudderless governance.
Ogolo added that Wike would continue to remain a force to be reckoned with in Nigerian political equation, saying that without Wike, the decision on who emerges president of Nigeria in 2023 may be stalled, arguing that PDP may not succeed in retaking the Presidency without Rivers State and Wike.
